Vizcaya Rum, an award-winning collection of fine artisanal rums, is a tribute to a legacy of craftsmanship passed down through generations. Born from the Cuban rum-making tradition, our journey now continues in the Dominican Republic, where our rums are produced by Oliver & Oliver, a family-owned company dedicated to time-honored techniques and exceptional quality.

At the heart of our collection is Vizcaya VXOP, our flagship sipping rum. This ultra-premium expression undergoes a distinctive triple aging process, evolved from the traditional Spanish Solera method. Solera is translated as 'on the ground,' referring to the ground-level barrel, which contains the oldest aged rum.

The process begins with carefully selected sugarcane distillates, which are hydrated, blended, and aged in oak barrels to create Mother Rums. Twice a year, in the tradition of the Solera method, Mother Rums from the base Solera barrels are meticulously selected for quality and taste. Up to 75% of the rum is drawn from each Solera barrel and replaced with rum from the “first criadera” barrel just above it. The first criadera barrel is then replenished with rum from the “second criadera” barrel and finally, the second criadera barrel is filled with fresh rum distillate ready to be aged.

This cascading process maintains consistency while allowing each batch to evolve its own distinct character. These selected reserves are then blended to create Vizcaya VXOP—a remarkably smooth rum with a flavor profile that’s both rich and unique.

Our master rum makers and blending experts draw from a wide palette of aged and fresh distillates—blending them with precision and creativity to achieve a rich sensory experience in every bottle. Vizcaya Cristal, Cask 21, and our spiced Black Rum are carefully composed to highlight balance, depth, and flavor harmony—resulting in rums that are both distinctive and sophisticated.
